This game was created because of the great tutorial series from Krystman (Lazy Dev Academy) and for his basic shump showcase.

It's my first game and finished program ever! I was only used to sequential scripts until now. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot on this ride! :)

The game isn't really good and I could not implement every idea, but that's not the point. The way to finish this game somehow (unpolished) and the learnings on my way is what matters. And I'm thankful for that. I still have a lot to learn! I hope you can enjoy it a bit and I'm open for your feedback!

The game:

The controls will be shown in the game.

The mission is to kill as many enemies as you can and reach the end of level 4 ;)

Special thanks to:

Krystman (Lazy Dev Academy) for the awesome tutorial series, the help in discord and the inspiration! I learned a lot from you :)

Gruber for the music and snippets I used from his "Pico-8 Tunes Vol. 2". Great work!

Nice balance of enemies, enjoyable little game!

I think it's a very good creation, it's fun to play and the music is excellent.

I really enjoyed this.

  • lol I only realized you had wrap around sides at the last boss.
  • I really like your balance with your pickups - you need them and you need to use them also. Cherry bomb does suffer from not encouraging you to use your bombs - but your game is great at this. Nice and simple but well balanced.
  • Great variety of enemy movement. The level gets pretty chaotic by level 4 with all sorts going on. I loved it.
  • Nice simple but satisfying bosses.
  • I would like to see more levels - they feel really meaty - I like the individual enemies spliced between waves of various sorts.
  • Your enemy bullets look really good. - I know a weird thing but they look really good, clear and well animated.
  • Maybe an upgrade to your weapon?

Thank you a lot for your feedback and the good rating! :D Good that you could enjoy my first creation :)

  • I tried to play through the levels very often, that helped to balance it a bit, but I'm happy to hear that it's actually good :D
  • With level 3 & 4 come very different movement sets for the enemies, I tried to make every enemy unique. Thanks :)
  • You mean the levels are to full and I should separate them? In the short time I had and with all the new concepts and learnings I only made a new level for every new enemy.
  • I tried to apply the same concept to the player bullet, but it didn't work out. I designed the enemy bullet long after the player bullet. I can see my progress there xD
  • I thought about an weapon update too, but I did not have enough time for it. The bosses and the balancing didn't work 2 days before the deadline. I implemented the boss explosions the day before I submitted the game maybe in the next one :

Enjoyed all the little differences and design choices you made vs the base tutorial!

Had fun but only made it to level 3 ;)

Thank you :) I really like the new enemies from level 4 ;) But level 3 is not easy, that's true xD
